How to integrate LeadMagic with Clay in 2026

July 28, 20267 min read

LeadMagic + Clay 2026: native waterfall enrichment setup in under 10 minutes. Get verified emails, direct dials, and 40% lower cost than ZoomInfo.

LeadMagic's email finding costs $0.01 per verified result. Clay's Starter plan runs $149 per month for 2,000 workflow credits. For a team enriching 1,000 contacts per month, combining both tools runs $160 to $200 total. That's half what ZoomInfo Lite charges for the same contact volume, with stronger phone number coverage. Here's the exact setup.

How LeadMagic and Clay Work Together

LeadMagic is a native enrichment provider inside Clay's integration library. Connect via your LeadMagic API key, and Clay calls it as a lookup step inside any table workflow. Results sync on-demand: verified emails, mobile numbers, and LinkedIn profile data land directly into your Clay columns. No middleware required.

Clay acts as the orchestration layer. LeadMagic handles the lookup. When you build a waterfall enrichment flow, trying Provider A first and falling back to Provider B on a null result, LeadMagic fits as either a primary or secondary source. Most teams run it as a high-accuracy fallback after Apollo or Hunter return null.

Data flows one direction: LeadMagic returns results into Clay table columns. Clay stores the enriched data and you push it downstream to your CRM or outreach tool. There's no write-back to LeadMagic.

How to Set Up LeadMagic in Clay

Setup takes under 10 minutes if you have your LeadMagic API key ready. Clay's native integration handles authentication and rate limiting automatically. You don't need developer access, API wrappers, or middleware. Seven steps from a blank Clay table to your first enriched contact.

  1. Get your LeadMagic API key. Log into LeadMagic, go to Settings, and copy your API key from the Integrations tab. You'll need an active account with credits loaded.
  2. Open Clay and go to Integrations. In Clay, open workspace Settings and click Integrations. Search for LeadMagic in the provider list.
  3. Paste your API key. Enter your LeadMagic API key in the connection field. Clay pings LeadMagic to validate it. A green checkmark confirms you're connected.
  4. Create or open a Clay table. Either start fresh or open a table with existing contacts. You'll need at least one column with LinkedIn URLs, company domains, or contact names as lookup inputs.
  5. Add a LeadMagic enrichment column. Click the "+" to add a column, select Enrich from the dropdown, then choose LeadMagic. Pick your action: Find Email, Find Phone, or Enrich Profile.
  6. Map your input fields. Tell Clay which column to use as the lookup input. For email finding, this is usually the LinkedIn URL column or name-plus-company-domain. Run a test row before enriching the full table.
  7. Run enrichment. Hit "Run All" or select specific rows. Results appear in the column. Credits are deducted from your LeadMagic balance on successful lookups.

Common failure: if Clay returns "invalid API key," check for trailing spaces in the key you pasted. LeadMagic API keys are case-sensitive. A zero-balance account will authenticate but fail on every lookup call.

Where LeadMagic Outperforms Other Clay Providers

LeadMagic's direct dial coverage is the clearest reason to add it to a Clay stack. Apollo and Hunter don't return mobile numbers reliably inside Clay. LeadMagic does. For email-only workflows the gap is narrower, but LeadMagic's pay-per-result pricing means you're not charged for failed lookups.

Email accuracy

LeadMagic guarantees 95%+ email accuracy per their published benchmark. For outbound teams where one hard bounce flags a sending domain, accuracy matters more than raw contact volume. A verified email that lands is worth more than three unverified ones that bounce, per internal Modern Inbound deliverability data across 3,000+ campaigns.

Waterfall fit

Clay's waterfall logic runs Provider A first and falls back to Provider B only on a null result. Use LeadMagic as Provider B for emails (after Apollo or Hunter) and as Provider A for mobile numbers. That structure means you're paying LeadMagic credits only on contacts your primary provider couldn't enrich. Credits spent on successful lookups only.

What LeadMagic + Clay Actually Costs

Clay Starter is $149 per month for 2,000 credits. LeadMagic charges $0.01 per successful email find and roughly $0.05 per phone number, per LeadMagic's 2026 pricing page. Enriching 1,000 contacts runs $160 to $200 total. ZoomInfo Lite charges $400 to $500 for similar volume with weaker phone coverage, per public SMB pricing estimates.

Tool combinationMonthly cost (1,000 contacts)Phone coverageEmail accuracy
Clay + LeadMagic$160 to $200Strong (direct dials)95%+
Clay + Apollo$150 to $250Limited85 to 90%
ZoomInfo Lite$400 to $500Moderate80 to 85%
Clay + Hunter$150 to $185None90%+

Clay credits and LeadMagic credits are billed separately. Clay doesn't mark up LeadMagic's per-lookup cost. You're paying for workflow infrastructure and data independently, which makes it easy to see exactly what each component costs when you're forecasting enrichment budget.

Three Workflows That Justify the Setup Cost

The LeadMagic + Clay integration pays for itself in three recurring workflows: inbound lead enrichment before the first sales reply, outbound list gap-filling when Apollo misses contacts, and CRM re-enrichment for stale data. Each workflow saves hours that compound into booked pipeline.

Inbound lead enrichment. A demo request hits your CRM with just a name and company. Clay enriches it automatically: LeadMagic finds the verified email and mobile number, a second Clay step pulls the LinkedIn profile, a third scores the account by headcount and industry. Your rep gets a fully enriched lead in under 2 minutes, not 2 hours.

Outbound list gap-filling. You build an ICP list in Apollo (10,000 contacts, title and headcount filters). Apollo returns emails for 60% of contacts. Run the remaining 40% through LeadMagic in Clay. LeadMagic fills another 20 to 25%. You end up with 80 to 85% email coverage instead of 60%, plus direct dials on 25 to 30% of the list.

CRM re-enrichment. Contacts change jobs every 14 months on average, per LinkedIn Talent Insights 2024. A Clay table pulls contacts from HubSpot that haven't been touched in 12 months, runs them through LeadMagic to confirm current employer and email validity, and flags bounced emails for manual review. You clean the CRM without buying a new list.

Scale Outreach Without Hiring SDRs

Most B2B teams underestimate the work before sending: buyer-language research, list logic, DNS, warm-up, deliverability, copy testing, and reply handling. Modern Inbound runs the operating layer so founders can stay focused on sales calls.
