MailScale vs Instantly: Which One Do You Actually Need in 2026?
September 14, 2026 · 5 min read
MailScale starts at $79/mo for 15 mailboxes with no warmup. Instantly starts at $47/mo with unlimited accounts and warmup built in. Full 2026 comparison.
How to pick a tool
MailScale sells cold email sending infrastructure only: mailboxes, domains, and automated DNS setup, starting at $79/month for 15 accounts. Instantly is a full sequencing platform with built-in warmup, a 450M+ contact database, and native sending, starting at $47/month with unlimited email accounts. They are not direct substitutes. Most teams sending 500+ emails a day end up running MailScale-style infrastructure feeding into a platform like Instantly, not choosing one over the other.
MailScale vs Instantly: Pricing and Features Compared (2026)
Before picking a side, look at what each plan actually buys. The table below lines up MailScale's mailbox-provisioning tiers against Instantly's outreach plans, using each provider's own published pricing.
| Category | MailScale | Instantly |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Mailbox, domain, and DNS provisioning (infrastructure only) | Full sequencing platform: sending, warmup, and lead data |
| Starting price | $79/month (Solopreneur, 15 accounts) | $47/month (Growth, unlimited accounts) |
| Mid-tier price | $119/month (Business, 50 accounts) | $97/month (Hypergrowth, unlimited accounts, 125,000 emails/month) |
| Top listed plan | $249/month (Enterprise, 200 accounts, +$1/account/month after) | $555/month (Agency bundle, 500,000 emails/month, 450M+ lead database) |
| Email warmup | Not a distinct included feature | Unlimited warmup included on every plan |
| DNS setup (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) | Automated on every plan | Not applicable, built for mailboxes you already own |
| Lead/contact database | None | 450M+ contacts, from $94/month (Starter bundle) |
| Sending and sequencing | None, mailboxes export via CSV/IMAP into a separate sender | Native, built in |
| Domain purchases | $10 to $15/year per domain, bought inside the platform | Not offered |
What does MailScale actually do?
MailScale auto-provisions email mailboxes and domains, then configures SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records automatically, per MailScale's own help center. It caps mailboxes at 5 per domain and runs every account through a shared IP pool instead of offering dedicated IPs. It does not send email. Once your mailboxes are ready, you export them as a CSV and bulk-import the IMAP/SMTP credentials into a separate sender like Instantly or Smartlead.
That's a meaningfully different product than most people assume when they hear "cold email tool." MailScale is closer to a mailbox factory than a campaign platform. Domains cost $10 to $15 a year on top of the mailbox subscription, and DNS customization beyond the automated setup requires a support ticket with a 48 to 72 hour turnaround, per MailScale's documentation. There's no listed free trial, and plan upgrades go through support rather than self-serve billing.
What does Instantly do differently?
Instantly is the kind of platform MailScale's mailboxes eventually plug into. The Growth plan at $47/month includes unlimited email accounts and unlimited warmup, a feature MailScale doesn't offer at any price, per Instantly's pricing page. Bundle plans starting at $94/month layer on a 450M+ contact database and AI-assisted reply handling on top of sending.
The tradeoff runs the other way too. Instantly's account creation isn't built for bulk domain and DNS provisioning the way MailScale's is. If you're standing up 100+ mailboxes across dozens of fresh domains every month, doing that inside Instantly means buying and configuring each domain yourself first.
Which one should you actually use?
If you're running under 50 mailboxes, skip MailScale. Instantly's Growth plan already includes unlimited accounts and warmup for $47/month, cheaper than MailScale's $79 to $119/month tiers, and it skips the CSV export step entirely. MailScale earns its price at volume: agencies provisioning 100 to 200+ mailboxes across many domains benefit from the automated DNS setup and per-domain pricing, then feed the output into Instantly or Smartlead for the actual sending.
Don't buy MailScale expecting a sequencing tool. It isn't one. And don't expect Instantly to replace dedicated mailbox-provisioning software once you're buying domains by the dozen. Its account creation flow was built for teams managing tens of inboxes, not hundreds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is MailScale a replacement for Instantly?
No. MailScale provisions mailboxes, domains, and DNS records. It doesn't send email or run sequences. Most MailScale customers export their mailboxes into a sender like Instantly or Smartlead to actually run campaigns.
Does Instantly include email warmup for free?
Yes, unlimited warmup is included on every Instantly plan starting at $47/month (Growth), per Instantly's pricing page. MailScale doesn't list warmup as a distinct included feature on any tier.
How many mailboxes does MailScale allow per domain?
Five mailboxes per domain, per MailScale's help documentation. Domains cost $10 to $15 a year and are purchased inside the platform, billed separately from the mailbox subscription.
Which is cheaper for a small team, MailScale or Instantly?
Instantly, in most cases. Its $47/month Growth plan covers unlimited mailboxes and warmup, undercutting MailScale's $79/month entry tier for just 15 accounts while adding sending and sequencing MailScale doesn't include.
